Uplands is a state in the Northern census region. It is the largest state of New Shetland, as well as the least inhabited. It comprises approximately 40% of mainland New Shetland and large areas are virtually uninhabited. The state capital is Sherman.

The state is divided in several distinct geographical regions. The Great Northern Wilderness in the north is almost uninhabited and is the most prolific region of the state in terms of wildlife and nature.
