Cliffside is the name for the eastern part of High Island. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful areas of New Shetland and is famous for its cliffs and deserted valleys. Cliffside is mostly uninhabited save a few farmers and thousands of sheep and goats. Most of the vegetation consists of low bushes, grasses and mosses. Due to over-grazing, there are virtually no trees in the area.

The tiny village of Creekford Anahuquant is the only settlement in the area with more than 100 inhabitants, and it marks the end of the road leading to Waterford.
